My Current Obsession

Just to clarify, I don't own a Nikon D80.....YET. Not enough moolah anyway. You see, I have more important things to spend my money on like food, food and more food...heeheehee.

Looking at the photos posted by these fellow bloggers
Abaniko, Eric, Kyels, Rey and Sidney convinced me that DSLR is the only way to go. Please Santa, I've been good this year. What can I do to afford one? Let me count the ways:

1. I can buy tickets to the lotto and hope to win the jackpot. Wow! I can buy not only one DSLR camera but a whole truckload of them!!! Problem is, the chances are 1 in 10,000,000 or some similar digit before I can win the jackpot. I'll have more chances of being hit by a lightning than winning the lotto! Arrghh!

2. Try to join the next Philippine Idol and hope to convince everyone that I'm a deserving winner. Problem is, I can't sing even if my life depended on it. Do-re-mi, do-re-mi... I can still give this a try though, not everyone who joins these kinds of contests are excellent singers...remember Sanjaya Malakar??? Nuff said.

3. Maybe I can enter into a government contract to supply millions of equipments to some far-flung barangay??? Problem is, I don't have anything to offer 'cept my legal services and that's not for sale.

4. Maybe I can join a photo contest where the prize is a DSLR camera. Problem with this plan is that those who win these contests are those who already have a DSLR camera which they used to take the winning photograph! It's the chicken-and-egg cycle once more.

5. Buy tickets to the Oprah show and pray that the episode I get to watch is one where Oprah gives away the latest gadgets and hope that it includes a DSLR camera. But I guess there are many loopholes in this plan. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get to Oprah's show??? And what are the chances I get to watch the episode where she gives away stuff?? Boy, I would love to have been part of the audience
when she gave each one a car.

As you can see, I'm running out of ideas. Can you help me formulate a plan??? Hahaha...all in the spirit of fun ha, nothing serious or illegal, ok?

I can understand your obsession. I have the same kind of vice... ;-)

You could rob a bank or a photo store.
If you want it less bloody just ask each blog visitor for a donation...

How about Wowowee or Deal or No Deal? They're not in your list. Better yet 1 vs. 100 (I like this better).

Go! go! go!

Yeah bugsybee has a good suggestion doing the Wowowee or Eat Bulaga but I heard they rig the contest there so it might not work.

Kidding aside, try joining contests offered in the web, from blogs to websites. Just search in the search engine the word "online contests"...I've been trying it but so far no luck.

Oh yes... agree with Bugsybee. Pag sa Wowowee, dapat magpapaawa ka kay Willie so that he would make you win. Sa Game KNB, you should know how to do the papaya. 1 vs. 100 is always fun. Choose the mob until you reach P300,000. If you join Deal or No Deal, paki pitik si Kris para sa'kin. :)

Okay, I have to stop watching TV. :)

It's true that being an owner of a dSLR is fun but there are many things to be particular about as well. The equipments especially. But anyway ate, I hope your dream of owning one will come true!

;)

Get a second job as a guest relations officer in one of Malate's hot spots.

But then again, the prices of dSLRs are going down much like cellphones. Check out the Nikon D40x. Also, some credit cards offer a 12-month, no interest deal.

Photography is incredibly relaxing and creative.

Kunwari ka pa Ladybug. Dami mong pera eh. Hehe. But honestly, you can buy a point-and-shoot camera. As they say, "It's the indian, not the arrow." :)

lol...let me count the ways ka dyan. ilabas na kasi or mag swipe muna. :)

sidney> Seriously, I've been bleeding my eyes dry reading and re-reading various reviews of the DSLRs and sample pictures. I'm that obsessed with having one.

I don't think I'd have the guts to rob a bank or photo store. The donation sounds good though. Can I start with you??? Hahahaha...just kidding!

bugsybee> Seriously, when I was on maternity leave, I so wanted to join these contests but I have no idea how I could join Deal or No Deal. 1 vs. 100 sounds good. Hahaha....sana nga makasali ako.

major tom> Haaayy, honestly, I've had my eye on some of these contests. Good luck pala sa ating dalawa.

ladybug said...

toe> Hahahaha! Seriously, hirap talagang makasali. Pero pag nakita mo ako sa mga shows na iyan one of these days wag mo akong ikahiya ha...hahaha. Hirap lang talagang makasali. As I mentioned earlier, napudpod na daliri ko sa kate-text para lang makasali sa gameknb.

kyels> Thanks...although I would hardly call it a dream. But it would really be nice to own one. :-D

eric> Guest relations officer?...although that thought had indeed entered my mind, I don't think my husband would be thrilled with that idea....hahahaha!

I also like the D40x but I really prefer the D80 if given the choice. Problem with my credit card is I'm still paying off the laptop and another point-and-shoot....hehehe. Magastos ba??? And I don't want to spend my savings on the DSLR because it's a want and not a need. I have to think of alternative means to get the money to buy the d80. Maybe I will enter that NY photo contest after all. Haay buhay...

ladybug said...

abaniko> Seriously, I don't want to dip into my savings to buy the d80. As I mentioned earlier, it's a want and not a need. JK.

ladybug said...

ipanema> Haaa??? Wala akong ilalabas.

why not try shifting your idea about it from want to need.

This probably could make you buy the cam immediately.

when all else fail, kaskas na at bahala na si batman. LOL

that's a very nice gadget...I always wanted a Nikon DSLR pero sobrang mahal sya hehehe...when a friend took my daughter's pics with his D70 like you nag lalaway rin ako hehehe.

how about signing up to money out of your blog? I heard some people make $ per post, then buy yourself a nice D80 :)

Anonymous said...

Heh, buti ka pa nga may point and shoot cam, ako hanggang cellphone lang. Anyway, it's for my blog lang naman so I'm not slaivating for a dslr whatever... yet. Mwahaha :-D

Think about it muna, are you really into (or want to be into) photography to want such high-end shooter? Or is it just for this blog? ALso remember, these are electronic gadgets, and unlike the old-type cameras, pag nasira ang dslr mas mahirap i-repair at mas mahal.

Halata bang dini-discourage kita? Hahahaha :-D

BTW, no need to buy lotto tickets. Pwede naman yung scratch and win... :-D

Here is another one that you can try your luck:

http://www.thecomicblurb.com/2007/09/03/round-twofight/

There are two categories that you can join, both of which pay PHP100,000 courtesy of Neil Gaiman.

Imagine kung mapanaluna mo both categories, eh di PHP200th yon.

naku ako walang swerte sa lotto kahit bumibili ako noon. talaga atang i'll work my butt off para magka pera. :(

@1st message - Hahaha...hindi talaga need eh, kahit anong gawin kong psychological conditioning wa epek yata. Eh what if magkasakit kami in the meantime, hirap walang pambayad sa ospital.

@2nd message - Hey thanks! I went to the site and saw the details. Kasi naka-reserve sa iyo yung first. :-D Thanks myepinoy.

And that's almost for one whole year! Baka may apo na ako di ko pa kitain yung kelangan....hehehehe.

ladybug said...

snglguy> Yeah, tama ka diyan. You are the voice of reason. Actually, I want to take good shots my husband while playing badminton and possibly for future kid/s na din. Shempre, I want to capture unforgettable moments in pics. Hindi na mauulit eh. Sige, for now, I have to be contented with my reliable pentax p&s. :-D Thanks snglguy!

ladybug said...

ipanema> Hahahaha...pareho tayong walang swerte. Pero who knows? Baka magbago at bigla tayong swertehin. Have you heard of the couple in Canada (or the US, I;m not sure) who won the lottery for the second time??? Grabe, swerte talaga nila.

Anonymous said...

Robbing a bank is not in the equation...

Going to the Camera store and snatch the cam is a no-no...

Asking the husband via guilt-factor?
(I've been a victim to that tactic several times, hook-line-sinker!)

... Or splash out that Credit card and do the 24-month interest free payment scheme!

...And since we're already talking means here, why not go a bit overboard and get the very hot D300 instead? hehe.

tutal dalawa naman yong categories at para patas ang laban, first ako doon sa isang category, second ka, then doon sa isa, ikaw ang first ako ang second.

Once upon a time when life was good, I had SLRs in 35mm, an Olumpus om-2n, om-1 and a Nikon F-3, but now all I could afford to buy my dear niece is a Canon Power Shot, thanks goodness she is not into digicam.

Me, just borrow from some "friends" and just delete the pics after downloading. just do the same, nobody will know it is not yours. hehe

ladybug said...

rey> How I wish it could be that easy! Hahahaha. Anyway, the D300 is totally out of the equation. Mga 2 years muna palalagpasin ko, pag bumaba na presyo bago ko man lang maisip na magkaron nito....unless I strike gold in the meantime! Hehehehe.

ladybug said...

myepinoy> Sige, payag ako diyan! Hehehehe. Ok lang, libre namang managinip eh. Tsaka malay mo magkatotoo. :-D

ladybug said...

vic> Wow, you were into SLR photography pala. Do you still have them? I'm sure you take good pictures with them. How come you're not into digital photography then??? Hey, that's a good idea. I might just do that. And besides, I would have to start fidgeting with other peoples DSLRs first, getting the feel of it, before having my own someday noh.

With my daughter's sky high tuition fee and other expenses - pangarap na lang ang kaya ko. hehehe.

Malaking pera yan. Joke... hehehe.

rhodora> Haayyyy, pareho tayong mangangarap muna. I just came from a sports event at talagang nanakam ako sa mga DSLR na dala ng iba. Hhaaayyyy....napabuntung hininga na lang ako.
