My Most Expensive Pictures Ever

Caught your attention 'ei? Well, you have to read the rest of my post to understand.

18 July to 22 July 2007 saw the staging of the 2nd Bingo Bonanza Philippine Open Badminton Tournament at the Philsports Arena (formerly Ultra). My husband was able to watch it since Day 1. But since I couldn't get off work to watch the games with him, I had to content myself with watching the weekend games. The semi-finals was scheduled last Saturday, while the finals was scheduled last Sunday. I will be posting more pictures during the event in my succeeding posts.

Badminton fanatic that I am, I was able to convince my hubby to wait for the champion of the Men's Doubles event (Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong of Malaysia, now ranked #3 in the world) to emerge from the press conference room and have my picture taken with them. Here are the pics:

With Koo Kien Keat of Malaysia

With Tan Boon Heong of Malaysia

While my husband was busy taking these pictures, he felt someone's hand brush up his butt but took no notice of it since he wanted to appease my desire to have my picture taken with these world-class players. Immediately after taking these photos, his hand went to his pocket to check if his wallet was still there, but lo and behold...it was already gone!!! Some evil conscience-less person picked his pocket despite the presence of several police officers in the vicinity !!! Gggrrrr...I hope whoever did this rots in hell!!!!

Fortunately, my hubby was not yet able to withdraw so there was only a minimal amount of cash in his wallet. But it wasn't the money we were worried about but all the hassle of having to replace his ID, driver's license, ATM cards and credit card. Aside from anger at the person who did this, I also felt guilty because my hubby wanted to go home immediately but I convinced him to stay so that I could have pictures for posterity. Sheesh! If only we'd gone home immediately after the games. (Ang pagsisisi talagang laging nasa huli.) I should have listened to my "gut feel" telling me not to wait for these players and go home already. But I didn't listen. Instead, I persisted with the original plan. A lot of "if-only"s and "what-if"s.

So, yeah, these pictures truly are unforgettable and my most expensive pics ever. Lesson well learned indeed.

Being snatched up is more headache than just the money. Especially sa atin na ang daming ID! Bakit kasi hindi pa aprubahan and national ID, sana katulad rin dito.

Anyway, did Susilo went there to compete?

rey> Hay nako, sinabi mo.

Yes, Susilo was here and my hubby was able to watch him. Grabe, ang galing daw. Kaso natalo siya kay Kuncoro of Indonesia. The following day, hindi na nakapaglaro si Kuncoro because of an injury. Ganun kahirap at katindi yung laban nila ni Susilo.

First thing firsts, Ladybug ang ganda mo pala :)

Ay ano ba yan? Ang mga magnanakaw ng operation dukot that day dahil maraming tao.

ATM and credit cards are easily replaced as long as you call them within 24 hours. But the driver's license and other gov't issued cards, ibang usapan yon. When my wallet was stolen two years ago, I had my replacement bank cards within a few days. But with my driver's license, nako, kung anu-ano pa ang pinagawa sa akin, and what's worse, it took them 3 months to give me the replacement! Ssmantalang it only takes less than an hour to renew a license... arrgh!

Hope those thieves won't use your hubby's identity for their extra-curricular activities...

It is always a good measure to keep duplicate copies of ids in safe place as to make it easier for replacements. My sister had her bag snatched only a block away from home and the cop was in our house in minutes taking info and adviced me to change the exterior locks as there were keys in the bag, otherwise everything is very smooth to replace and all done with phone calls and police report number. Even driver's licence can be issued from the files without going in person...those scumbags, they are everywhere...

kyels> Haha...I was rooting for them too! Although, I think it would have been more exciting if they faced the pair of Gunawan/Wijaya in the finals.

momoftwo> Hahaha...thanks! Kakainis talaga!

snglguy> Nako....wag naman sana. One of them is a military ID pa naman. Tsk tsk... Anyway, tama ka nga. My husband was given 5 months temporary license. Nakakainis talaga yung nagnakaw. Sana madapa siya....sa kumukulong tubig.

vic> Hey, that's a good piece of advice. From now on I will photocopy all of our important IDs. I agree with you there...SCUMBAGS talaga sila and they're everywhere.

I always put my wallet on my front shirt or front pants pocket, never in my back pocket. I've never been pickpocketed *knock on wood*.

wil> Hey, that's also a nice idea. Maybe my husband can put it in the front pocket of his pants...he doesn't have a shirt pocket though.

Oh my, that was a spoiler. Di bale, ayan ka oh. Very expensive nga ladybug.

ipanema> Hay, tama sinabi mo.

At totoo nga.

Meron lang me suggestion, scan mo mga important ID's. docs, pati pic ng kotse mo, etc. at save mo sa (usb)flash disk para handy in case na kailangan.

di bale kukunin din sya ni Lord.

myepinoy> Hay nako, tama ka diyan. Sobrang nakakainis talaga. Sige, thank you for this suggestion. Susundin namin lahat ng suggestions niyo. Have a happy weekend!

ladybug,
Mukha kang artista!
I used to be so paranoid about holduppers and robbers. nawala nung nalipat ako dito sa probinsya namin ngayon (Maine). You can leave your house or car open (while in town) and never worry about theft. If you left a bag in a restaurant/restroom, you are pretty much assure you can get it back or someone will return it to you.
BTW, re your HP Book 7 post, I have finished it. I am a HP fan as well (the whole family, actually, including hubby), and now I feel like repeating the series all over again.

manang> Naks...thanks! *blushing* Wow, buti pa diyan at tahimik ang buhay. Dito, always on the look-out dapat sa magnanakaw at holdaper. Tsk tsk.

Galing galing talaga noh??? Glad you're back!
