The Fury that is Mayon Volcano

Mayon Volcano situated in Legazpi City, Albay started spewing flaming lava and rocks from its mouth last Friday, raising risks of a major eruption and putting thousands of villagers on high alert for evacuation. According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Mayor Noel Rosal said that even wild animals, such as boars and snakes, had begun descending from Mayon and that springs on the lower slopes of the mountain were drying up, all of which were "a bad sign."

Phivolcs has also reported that the tremors in the area are increasing and becoming more violent, which shows that the volcano is ready to explode anytime soon. Unfortunately, I saw on the television this morning that there were still some people near the area who were unwilling to evacuate to makeshift evacuation centers. According to them, they will just starve in the evacuation centers and they prefer to tend to their farms since they feel that the volcano will not yet erupt, “predicting” that it will take weeks before it will do so.

Do you know that I actually saw Mayon Volcano erupting from a plane? I was on my way to Legazpi City when the pilot announced that we have to go back to Manila because the volcano just erupted. It was beautiful! There was a thick column of smoke rising from its mouth. Interesting how something so beautiful could be so devastating.

BTW, I was with Olga in Bangkok last weekend. :)

Hi Toe! Yup, Olga told me that you would be seeing each other. I would love to go to Bangkok if we have the time because Jojo's sister lives there permanently and I still haven't met her. Funny thing nga eh, a few months ago, the secretary here told me that there was a client named Ann who wanted to see me because we were classmates daw. I don't remember a classmate named Ann who was close enough to me and who would want to see me. Turns out it was Olga Ann! hehehe...But I guess she told you the story already... :)
